Statistics: Russia’s inflation speeds up to 0.1% in May 19–Monday

MOSCOW, May 27 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation sped up to 0.1% from May 19 through Monday and reached 2.3% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.

Prices for buckwheat rose by 1.2% in the reporting period, for rice by 1%, for margarine, macaroni goods, chocolate sweets, and black tea by 0.5%, for sunflower oil by 0.4%, for canned meat, sterilizer milk, bread, and caramel by 0.3%, and for sausages, sour cream, flour, vodka, salt, and cookies by 0.2%.

Egg prices fell by 1.5%, poultry prices decreased by 0.7%, sugar prices shrank by 0.3%, and prices for pork and millet by 0.1%.

Fruit and vegetable prices grew by 1.1% on average. Potato prices increased by 3.5%, apple prices by 2.4%, carrot prices by 1.2%, carrot prices by 0.3%, and prices for cucumbers by 0.3%. Tomato prices fell 3.7% and onion prices decreased by 3.2%.

Automobile gasoline and diesel fuel prices remained flat.
